We weigh each piece on its own and test it by XRF, a quick test that reads the metal without marking it. The carat and the weight tell us how much pure gold is in it, and the pure gold is what counts. Any carat is welcome, from 9ct up.
Then everything is melted together, and the pure gold in it becomes bars from PAMP, Valcambi, Metalor or the Royal Mint at a flat 8%, with no bar fee, except 1% more on a 5g bar and 3% more on a 2.5g bar, or coins at 9%. Anything left over that does not make a whole bar is paid to your bank at 90% of market value.
Sell 10g of pure gold at 91.2% of the gold price and buy it back as a bar at 102.6% (the middle of the buyers and dealers we checked on 12 October 2026), and you leave with 8.89g. Exchanged here, the same 10g comes back as 9.20g. Work out yours.
