We buy rings, chains and bangles of 21ct or 22ct at the rate for their own carat, hallmarked or not. From 20g, they can become fine gold bars, and the gold stays gold.
Each piece is weighed on its own and tested by XRF, a quick test that reads the metal without marking it. Hallmarked or not, the reading gives its carat, and the carat sets the rate. Before you accept, the offer takes off a rough estimate for stones, watch movements and dental teeth, so the pieces can come back intact if you decline. Nothing is taken out before you accept. After you accept, we take out the stones and the watch movements. A movement is not paid for. A stone that holds its value is paid for on top; one that does not comes off the weight. Ask, and the stones and the movement come back to you. Nothing is melted or altered before you accept.
Or keep it as gold.
We always ask first whether you are sure you want to sell, because gold should only be touched in real need. From 20g, your pieces can become fine gold bars from PAMP, Valcambi, Metalor or the Royal Mint at a flat 8%, with no bar fee, except 1% more on a 5g bar and 3% more on a 2.5g bar, or coins at 9%. Anything that does not make a whole bar is paid to your bank at 90% of market value. How the exchange works.
Or send it by post.
Open an account and do the one-off ID check, and we send you a free pack, whatever the amount. Put your gold in, seal it and take it to a post office counter. It goes on our prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm label, addressed to our returns address: BE, Suite 53, 101 Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1R 5BX. Keep your proof of posting. It is tracked and signed for. Please don’t post anything to our Hatton Garden office. When your parcel arrives, we weigh and test every piece by XRF, and the offer shows the weight, the carat and the rate. We send the XRF photo only when the reading differs from what you told us, either way. The offer takes off a rough estimate for stones, watch movements and dental teeth, so if you say no, your pieces come back as they were. Nothing is melted or altered before you accept. Accept an offer by 3pm (UK time) on a working day and we send the payment that day by instant bank transfer. Accept later, or on a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday, and we send it the next working day.
